چکیده

The problem of arsenic (As) pollution being severe warrants opting for low-cost microbial remediation strategies. present study identifying suitable bacterial strains led to the isolation eleven As-tolerant from As-contaminated rhizosphere soils West Bengal, India. They were found oxidize/reduce 55–31.6% 5 mM As(III) and 73–37.6% As(V) within 12 h. four isolates (BcAl-1, JN 73, LAR-2, AR-30) had a high level oxidase activity along with higher resistance. agar diffusion assay further confirmed their ability endure As stress. presence aoxB gene was observed in these oxidizing isolates. Evaluation plant growth-promoting characteristics revealed that BcAl-1 (Burkholderia cepacia), 73 metallica), AR-30 cenocepacia), LAR-2 sp.) significant (PGP), including solubilize phosphate, siderophore production, indole acetic acid-like molecules ACC deaminase nodule formation under stressed condition. emerged as most promising traits removal well growth promotion.

Arsenic uptake, arsenite efflux and plant growth in hyperaccumulator Pteris vittata: Role of arsenic-resistant bacteria.

Bacteria-mediated arsenic (As) transformation and their impacts on As and P uptake and plant growth in As-hyperaccumulator Pteris vittata (PV) were investigated under sterile condition. All As-resistant bacteria (9 endophytic and 6 rhizospheric) were As-reducers except one As-oxidizer. After growing two months in media with 37.5 mg kg(-1) AsV, As concentrations in the fronds and roots were 3655...

Taxonomically-linked growth phenotypes during arsenic stress among arsenic resistant bacteria isolated from soils overlying the Centralia coal seam fire

Arsenic (As), a toxic element, has impacted life since early Earth. Thus, microorganisms have evolved many As resistance and tolerance mechanisms to improve their survival outcomes given As exposure. We isolated As resistant bacteria from Centralia, PA, the site of an underground coal seam fire that has been burning since 1962. From a 57.4°C soil collected from a vent above the fire, we isolate...

Phosphorus solubilization and plant growth enhancement by arsenic-resistant bacteria.

Phosphorus is an essential nutrient, which is limited in most soils. The P solubilization and growth enhancement ability of seven arsenic-resistant bacteria (ARB), which were isolated from arsenic hyperaccumulator Pteris vittata, was investigated. Siderophore-producing ARB (PG4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12 and 16) were effective in solubilizing P from inorganic minerals FePO4 and phosphate rock, and organi...
